I blew it. Sorry guys, how could I miss recapping the match-up between our two division leaders during week 7 and on last week's post!? Well, let me tell you why I didn't highlight anything from that game:
- Matt beat Dane by 21 points...nothing exciting about that.
- Dane's two best players were on a bye week so the "W" gets an automatic * by it
- With Peyton Manning, Forte and McFadden playing the way they are, I expect 100 points from Matt every week.
If anyone else feels like they aren't getting enough press through this blog, please don't hesitate to speak up. :)
Now moving from week 7 and week 8. We all need to start trading and colluding so someone can keep up with Tay Tay. 130 points scored in one week is absurd. His team is scarier than Jake in a nasty mullet wig or Mike Kelly in a Miley Cyrus outfit twerking. His two biggest wins this year are for sure knowshon and Desean. They have been ballers but were drafted relatively late. Good draft Tay. Even if Jared would have played the Broncos D that scored 21 points he wouldn't have had a chance.
While I have the floor...I want to tell you about a dilemma I faced Thursday morning. I had to make a choice about which QB to start as Cam was facing Tampa Bay during the Thursday night. Do I play him vs. a decent defense or roll the dice with Vick against an awful Giant's D? Is Vick going to be fully healed? I debated and debated and debated. I switched my lineup no less than 4 times. I landed on Cam, the safer bet with Vick's health and starting position unknown on Thursday afternoon. The result - Cam gets 27 points, Vick gets -1 and I beat Jake by 3. That is when you feel good about fantasy football. Even though I was down 12 going into MNF, I was pretty confident that a decent RB and great kicker could get me 13 points (although I thought it would be the kicker getting me 13 and the RB getting me 2, not the other way around). Can you think of some decisions you have made this season that have sealed a win or loss for you? I'd love to hear about it...seriously. If you can't tell, I am really into this stuff...I even bought a book about it (Matthew Berry's Fantasy Life).
Some high scoring surprises from players last week:
- Calvin Johnson vs. Dez was fun to watch. Wasn't that last drive by Detriot the best drive of the year? Plus, 300+ yards by a WR. No biggie
- Marvin Jones - good pickup this week spike...let's see what he does now though after 4 TDs in one week (!!!!)
- Kenny Stills - he only catches 3 balls and gets 130 yards and 2 tds? That doesn't seem sustainable.
- Jason Campbell...watch out for him.
- Is Colin Kaepernick back?
Nick vs. Dane: If Jimmy Graham is on the field...you play him! 15 points in only 18 snaps...c'mon man. Dane lost by 6 and played Mike Williams (2 pts) and Robert Woods (0 points) ahead of Graham. Ouch. Nick...big win for you. Puts you at .500 on the years.
Mike vs. Ty: Ugly battle with only 50% of the players scoring 10+ points (of the 7 players, 3 were kickers and D/ST). Ty, keep the W's rolling. Except for week 9 obviously. Mike, has Larry Fitz been frustrating to own this year? Balls on your bench, poops on your starting roster, eh?
Spike: Your team is getting good press on here every week. Your bench = 59 points, your starters = 50 points. Ouch.
Week 4 Forecasts
- First off, Matty B, please pickup a defense (that isn't project to score negative points) in time for your matchup this week.
- Two match-ups this week that I am watching and think will provide plenty of entertainment:
- Matt/Mike (Will Matt's win streak keep going against a struggling but desperate contender? Playing Casey Keenum at QB and without another WR, I don't think so)
- Jake/Ty (Looks to be a high scoring and close affair)
- Boring Match-up of the Week Prediction:
- None...think this could be a pretty competitive week all around.
